The necropolis of Mount Saraceno

The necropolis presents a series of tombs that recall the rite of return to prenatal life: the dead person was placed crouch, together with the items more valuable to them.

The coverage of the tombs was dome by means of slabs of stone, known as "stele". These were topped by heads, shields and phalluses, according to the title and the importance of the deceased.

The Roman Villas "dell'Agnuli"

Situated just a few meters from the sea, these villas are the ruins of patrician houses of the fourth century AD. They are characterized by the ordinate construction technique of the walls, made of very small bricks, in the shape of rhombus, which are juxtaposed as a net, and the floors which are juxtaposed as herringbone.

The Benedictine Abbey of Mount Sacro

Built on the top of Mount Sacro between the fifth and ninth century AD, these Abbey controlled most of the fertile land of Mattinata. His power started to decline only around the 14th century.
