Traditions Events Mattinata

The main events of Mattinata are: 

The Eve of St. Joseph
On the 18th of March, for devotion, huge bonfires are made, lighting up the streets and surrounding hills, around which people once upon a time used to meet to recite the Holy Rosary. Nowadays, people still meet around these bonfires to chat, sing and dancing.

"Gommonata del Gargano" (i.e. raft race)
During the month of June

Patron's Feast
Dedicated to Holy Mary if the Light, this feast is celebrated on September 14-15-16. Each year, at the end, there is a beautiful fireworks show.
